About our Founders
Debunk was founded in 2017 by Anastasia Columbos and Britni Weston, two Canadians with deep roots in the energy industry. Growing up in families connected to energy production, they witnessed firsthand the essential role this industry plays in the lives of Canadians — providing the resources that power our homes, communities, and economy. They also saw how often the industry was misunderstood, misrepresented, and unfairly criticized, fueling their passion to set the record straight.
At Debunk, we believe energy is at the core of all life. As the world grows and evolves, so does its need for energy. Meeting this demand requires a balanced, "all of the above" approach — one that combines fossil fuels, renewables, nuclear, and biofuels to create a reliable and sustainable energy mix. While the energy transition is underway, fossil fuels remain critical to keeping the lights on, especially when they’re produced responsibly. And if the world needs oil and gas, no country does it better than Canada.
That’s why we created Debunk: to challenge the myths, misperceptions, and misinformation surrounding one of Canada’s largest and most important industries. We are proud to have built a platform that celebrates the incredible work Canada does to meet global energy needs — responsibly, sustainably, and for the benefit of the world.
